Huggy & Dean
Top class production and DJ duos are few and far between in today’s world of Electronica but Huggy & Dean Newton are bursting onto it at full speed. With several releases under their belt, this duo is flying high on the warm up lap. It takes something really special to excite a wide selection of DJs but this pair seems to have it. Erick Morillo, Tiesto, Roger Sanchez, Paul Van Dyk, James Zabiela, and Axwell have all declared their undying love for their work.
At the beginning of 2008 their first track “La Terrazza” was promoted in limited quantities, Roger Sanchez instantly supported the track making it tune of the week on his Release Yourself radio show (later using it on his Release Yourself 8 Compilation) and proclaimed it as the sound of summer 2008. “La Terrazza” fused a Spanish guitar with tribal percussive rhythms and a deep progressive bassline. By the time Kontor released it in the summer of 2008 this duo had won over a wide variety of Djs, from Erick Morillo to Tiesto (who used it in every one of his warm ups on his world tour), Sarah Main, Bob Sinclar and more!
Early 2010 brings the release of ‘Want You’ on UK label Whoop!, (a tribal led tech houser gaining support from a vast array of artists; from Groove Armada to Dubfire) and ‘Inizio’ on Suesse records featuring a Veerus & Maxie Devine Mix
As DJ’s, Huggy and Dean have already played at nightclubs and festivals worldwide but recently as a duo the spotlight is firmly on them wether it’s warming up for Paul Oakenfold at Edinburgh’s Ocean Terminal, a sell out four hour 4 deck display in December or opening for Roger Sanchez on the Renaissance/Ministry of Sound stage at EH1 Festival. 2010 looks like being a very busy year for this dynamic duo and they’re in high demand with confirmed gigs worldwide.
